Participation, Community and Education
Yael Flexer, Nic Sandiland/Dance & Digital Works is recognised for its thoughtful and inspiring education and outreach activity. The company’s education work is driven by the desire to open contemporary dance and technology to a wide public through participation and performance.
The company’s team of highly skilled professional dance artists lead a diverse education and participatory programme that encompasses youth work, GCSE, and A/AS level study residencies. These programmes are suitable for participants age 12+.
The company welcomes a collaborative approach to producing tailor-made project and events, ranging from one-off workshops and residencies to youth commissions and large-scale site-specific events that respond to organisations’ and individuals’ needs and aspirations.
Examples include:
• Dance specific workshops including technique, repertoire and creative work
• Residencies leading towards the creation of a curtain raiser (short works presented alongside the company performance and/or independently).
• Dance and new technology workshops focusing on dance for the camera or projection in performance leading toward the creation of a short film, installations or live work using new technology.
"Above all it is Yael’s extraordinary choreographic talent and skill and her ability to share these and inspire dancers from beginners to professional alike which make her a ‘special’ dance artist”
Marie McCluskey, Swindon Dance
